Suicide Intervention and Prevention
We are not currently offering any ASIST workshops. We do not expect them to return to CMHA Central Alberta as long as social distancing is in place.
There is a 90 minute online program, from another provider, you may wish to take a look at. It is called LivingWorks Start. LivingWorks Start is a 90-minute online program that can be taken on any computer or device. It teaches people to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and take meaningful action to keep them safe, even from afar. The program is evidence-based, customizes depending on the user’s input, and includes safety features.
Working with the Centre for Suicide Prevention (CSP), CMHA Central Alberta Region educates people with the information, knowledge and skills necessary to respond to people at risk of suicide. CMHA and CSP teach prevention because prevention is the only solution to suicide.
For more information, or to register, email us at [email protected] or call CMHA at 403-342-2266.
Red Deer Life Long Learning Council learner bursaries may be available for Suicide Intervention and Prevention Workshops. These bursaries are designed to reduce the costs of this education for people with financial barriers who do not have professional development funding through their employment, students, and individuals who are taking the workshops for personal reasons.
Currently CMHA Central Region offers four different workshops.
