Mental Health and Wellness Courses
Thanks to CMHA funders and donations, we are pleased to be able to offer Art of Friendship and Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) as free courses beginning April 1, 2018.
Art of Friendship is a free eight-week course which helps people who feel lonely or isolated learn how to make and keep friends as they build self-confidence, reduce loneliness and laugh more. This course is for anyone aged 16 and older. Topics will include tolerance, healthy boundaries, values, trust, responsibility and commitment.
It is particularly helpful for people who want to improve their quality of life by learning and practicing the skills needed to develop and keep healthy friendships through peer support and a focus on recovery.
People who wish to enroll in Art of Friendship must call us at 403-342-2266 to begin the registration process.
April 25 – June 13, 2018
Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) is a free eight-week course designed to identify what individuals and families need for everyday wellness. Participants will develop skills and tools to improve day to day life, meet daily challenges, and promote mutual cooperation in families. The course is open to teens with an adult participant as well as any individual over the age of 18.
Thousands of people, world-wide, have successfully used what they learned at an 8-week WRAP™ course to live happier and more satisfying lives while improving connections to their families, their friends, and their community.

Professional Education Workshops
Suicide Prevention and Intervention Workshops
This half-day workshop is only for people with a valid ASIST certificate. This will allow you to renew your ASIST certification for a further two years. The workshop offers participants an opportunity to review the Pathway for Assisting Life Model, discuss successes and challenges. CMHA Red Deer does not have another Tune-Up planned before fall, 2018. Please check with us to see if your ASIST certification will expire in the interim.

Are You Looking for Family Support? Caregiver Connections provides parents and caregivers of children or young adults (24 and under) who have a mental health concern with a free drop-in peer-support group that provides compassionate support, along with specific information and resources. Beginning April 1, we can now welcome caregivers of people of any age into the group.
You do not need to register before attending, just drop in! . Feel free to call us for more information at 403-342-2266.
Caregiver Connection meets on Tuesday evenings from 5:45 to 7:30ish. We do not meet the 5th Tuesday of the month or on stat holidays.
Do you have a mental health concern and need support? Our Friendship Circle provides opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships, participate in community life, and enhance leadership and mentoring abilities. There is no fee for Friendship Circle.
People who have taken any of our courses can just drop by. We ask people who have never participated in CMHA education to call us before attending for the first time.
Friendship Circle meets every Wednesday
from 3 to 4:30 PM. We do not meet on stat holidays.
