The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) officially partnered on May 24, 2016 , expanding the mental health and suicide-awareness program Talk Today. CMHA Central Alberta Region is pleased to be working with the Red Deer Rebels for our first Talk Today event on Saturday, February 25, 2017

CMHA, The Alberta Teacher’s Association and Global Television partner together throughout the year to raise awareness of mental health. This year, ATA Local 80 conducted their first ever fundraising bondspiel in March, and then presented the cheque to CMHA Executive Director Trish McAllister-Hall on May 4 in celebration of Hat’s On for Mental Health 2016.

Hundreds of Albertans are losing their jobs in the current economic downturn. The impacts of job loss are far more than just a matter of lost income. For many people job loss generates anxiety and uncertainty that can impact their mental health.
The Family Enrichment Program at Catholic Social Services and CMHA are offering a series of free mini-educational workshops beginning May 3rd, 2017. The workshops focus on family mental health wellness and are open to all parents with children ages 3 to 17.

- Art of Friendship: May 2-June 30, 2017 (8 weeks on Tuesdays) 6:00-8:00 PM
- Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) :May 11-June 29 2017 (8 weeks on Thursdays) 5:30-8:00 PM
Living Life to the Full will be offered as a four week course on Wednesday evenings beginning March 1 at the CMHA Learning Annex in downtown Red Deer.
The following courses and workshops will begin in March. We recommend that people register early as space is limited. All programs will take place at the CMHA Learning Annex in downtown Red Deer.

CMHA is please to offer two Art of Friendship courses this fall, including, for the first time, an evening course at the Timberlands Branch of Red Deer Public Library. A daytime course will be offered at the CMHA office in downtown Red Deer. Download PDF flyer: 2016-fall-aof .
