Cardboard Stories works to challenge people’s assumptions about people experiencing homelessness by asking the participants to: “Please, write down one fact about yourself.”
All of the participants told their stories at Safe Harbour’s Warming Centre in November 2017. The Cardboard Stories were then professionally filmed and combined into video shorts.
Please join us at The Hub on Ross for the first screening of the video shorts at 3 PM on December 13. Light snacks will be served and all are welcome.
Also shown on that day at 4:00 PM will be the 35 minute video Are you Listening?
Are You Listening? is a TELUS funded short narrative documentary film. The project was filmed this past winter and features an Alberta cast & crew as well as Red Deer & Area community members & leaders. The film was inspired by the successful peer driven Empathy Program that was in Central Alberta schools for a short while as well as the personal story of the family of a young woman who committed suicide. The idea behind this film is that when we listen to understand, we change lives. The story follows Josie, a mental health advocate, as she models listening in her life. Please join us to support our intentions for this film. This is an amazing opportunity for you to see for yourself how this film can be implemented and create understanding where you live & work.
